The Universal Law of
BELIEF

The Universal Law of Belief states that: “We receive what we BELIEVE.”

The Universal Law of Belief is also referred to as The Great Law of Belief. This law was given some 2,000 years ago, saying “it is done to you, as you believe.” What this ultimately means is that what we believe is directly related to what we get out of life. The power of our belief creates the very reality of our existence.

Sound unlikely? Not at all, upon examination.

Let us start with the definition of belief. Belief is, simply, an idea that we think is true. Related words include certitude, conviction, positiveness, sureness, confidence, trust, hope, assurance.

The opposite meaning of BELIEF is doubt and disbelief.

When we believe an idea to be true, we bring that truth into our day-to-day life. What we BELIEVE influences what we SEE; what we see influences how we FEEL; how we feel influences what we DO; and finally, what we do influences what we GET.

This is easily illustrated by example. Two people with the same occupation may harbor two different ideas about what they do for a living. One person believes that it is a job, and the other believes it is a career.

The person with the job does the necessary work just to survive. This person sees a daily chore that they have to do. This leads to feelings of resentment, apathy and burden. As a result, this person does the bare minimum required to get the paycheck. And what this person receives corresponds – that is, just enough to get by - which is why “JOB” stands for “Just Over Broke!”

Conversely, the person with a career believes in a profession that they willingly chose to pursue in order to achieve. This person sees work as an opportunity, which in turn creates feelings of enthusiasm, inspiration and excitement. This person is motivated to do more than what is expected at work, and is then rewarded with advancement, such as a promotion or a raise.

It is important to always be conscious of what ideas we believe in, since if we believe in good ideas, we will receive exponential good in return. Conversely, belief in bad or incorrect ideas will return negative, self-defeating results.

Become more conscious of what you believe in, and stay aware of the connection between the idea that you believe and the results that you get. If you are not sure about what you believe, ask your mentor or someone who is receiving what you want to receive. Your willingness to believe in good ideas is your first demonstration of your willingness to change for the better.

And in the meantime... believe what you will, but report the results!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS:

  1. Think of an idea that you hold to be true. How does this belief color the way you feel?

  2. What, if any, belief do you carry that may not serve your best interest?

  3. Can you recall an instance when your belief in an idea resulted in an action that lead you to experience success?

Remember: If you don’t like what you’re receiving, change what you’re believing!
