The Universal Law of
WILLINGNESS

The Universal Law of Willingness states that: “Our WILLINGNESS to change for the opens us up to receive abundance.”

We have deliberately chosen The Universal Law of Willingness to kick off this “Law of the Month” series, for Willingness is inarguably the most important Universal Law. Willingness is the law from which all other Universal Laws originate. Without willingness, it's over before it begins.

Merriam-Webster defines WILLINGNESS in the following ways

  1. inclined or favorably disposed in mind : READY
  2. prompt to act or respond
  3. done, borne, or accepted by choice or without reluctance
  4. of or relating to the will or power of choosing : VOLITIONAL

Willingness is, in short, a genuine desire to change for the better.

The opposite meanings of WILLINGNESS include: apathy, aversion, disinclination, dullness, hesitance, indifference, reluctance, reservation, slowness.

Simply, the opposite of willingness is STUBBORNESS.

To begin to transform yourself from a person living in the land of Scarcity to one living in the land of Abundance, you must be inclined, favorably disposed in mind – READY – and prompt to act and respond by choice. You must possess a genuine desire to change for the better. Willingness is a decision, an attitude. No one else can give you willingness. Your life WILL BE whatever you WILL your life to be!

When you are defined by stubbornness – the opposite of willingness – you resist change, while hoping the world around you will change to suit you. Without willingness, you do not even allow yourself to BE changed for the better, for many of the things within you cannot be transformed alone, but only with the support of a mentor or peer group.

As a student of willingness, you set an intention to remain open to change and be changed. Examples may include a willingness to believe in your potential to do great things, or the willingness to take action on good ideas with the belief that life will improve. You may also demonstrate willingness by enrolling in a class to develop a particular skill.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS:

  1. When in your life has stubbornness (the opposite of willingness) kept me from enjoying more success?

  2. Can you recall an instance when your willingness to change resulted in an action that lead you to experience success?

Remember . . . The abundance you receive in your life is in direct proportion to your WILLINGNESS to take action to change for the better!
